Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on yardwyre.com, including our public website, the YardWyre app and the public parts stores that yards run on it, and how you control them. It adds detail to our Privacy Policy.
1. What This Covers
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Local storage, session storage and IndexedDB are similar places in your browser where a website can keep information, and the browser cache keeps copies of a site's files. This policy covers all of them.
2. No Cookies of Our Own
YardWyre's own servers do not set cookies on any page. On our public marketing pages, the only cookies come from Google Ads, and only after you allow them. In the YardWyre app, the card form that Stripe provides sets Stripe's own fraud-prevention cookies while a payment card is being added (see section 4).
3. The Google Ads Cookie
Our public marketing pages, such as the home page, How it works, Pricing, About, Contact, Privacy and Terms, can load Google Ads. It helps us see which of our ads lead people to visit and to request access, and it lets Google show our ads to people who have visited our website when they browse other websites. It loads only if you allow it, and never on this page, the Refund Policy page, the YardWyre app, a yard's public store or its checkout.
| Name | Kept in | Lasts | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | A cookie on yardwyre.com, set by Google Ads | 90 days | Connects a click on one of our ads with a later visit or request for access. |
_gcl_aw | A cookie on yardwyre.com, set by Google Ads | 90 days | Set when you arrive by clicking one of our ads, so a later request for access can be credited to that ad. |
_gcl_ls | Local storage on yardwyre.com, set by Google Ads | Until cleared | Holds the same ad-click information in your browser's local storage. |
test_cookie | A cookie on doubleclick.net, set by Google | 15 minutes | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies from Google's ad service. |
When Google Ads runs, Google receives the address and title of the page, your IP address and browser details, and, if you send the request form on our home page, the fact that a request was sent, never what you typed. Google may also set or read its own cookies on its own websites under its cookie policy and privacy policy.
4. Other Things Stored in Your Browser
These are not cookies. Each is needed for the feature you are using or remembers a choice you made, stays in your browser, and is not shared with anyone else.
| Name | Kept in | Lasts | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
yw_ads_consent | Local storage | Until cleared | Remembers whether you allowed the Google Ads cookie. |
yw_ref | Local storage | Until cleared | Set only if you arrive through a referral link, so the yard that referred you is credited if you contact us. That yard can see your business name and how your enquiry is progressing. |
yw_cart_ and the store's name | Local storage | Until cleared | Holds the parts in your cart on a yard's public store. |
token, img_token | Local storage | Until you sign out or your sign-in expires; with "Remember me", 30 days after your last visit | Keep you signed in to the YardWyre app and let it show your photos. |
remember_me | Local storage | Until cleared | Remembers whether you ticked "Remember me", so the box is ticked for you next time. |
| App settings and work in progress | Local storage, session storage and IndexedDB | Until cleared, or until saved work has been sent | Remember choices you make in the app on that device, such as table column layouts, and hold work done on a phone without a signal, including photos, until it can be sent. |
| App files | Browser cache | Until cleared | When you use the app on a phone, keep its own files so it opens without waiting for a signal. |
When you add a payment card in the YardWyre app, the card form is provided by Stripe, which processes the card. While that form is open, Stripe sets its own cookies on yardwyre.com to help prevent card fraud, such as __stripe_mid (one year) and __stripe_sid (30 minutes), and collects details about the device for the same purpose, under Stripe's privacy policy. They are needed to take a card securely and are not used for advertising.
5. Your Choice
The Google Ads cookie is off until you allow it. You can allow or refuse it here at any time; your choice applies to this browser on this device.
Turn on JavaScript to see or change your choice here. Without JavaScript, Google Ads never loads.
Refusing deletes the Google Ads cookie and local storage that yardwyre.com holds. Cookies Google keeps on its own websites are under Google's control: you can clear them in your browser, or turn off ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
6. Browser Privacy Signals
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a refusal: Google Ads never loads, and we do not ask.
7. Visit Counts Without Cookies
We count page views on our own servers without cookies. Each page view is recorded with the page, the website or campaign that sent you, and the type of device, together with a one-way code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day, so it cannot be used to recognize you from one day to the next. Those individual records are deleted after 30 days; only daily totals are kept. Our server logs keep your IP address and browser details for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting, and when you are signed in to the app, a record of the actions you take, with your IP address and browser, is kept for 12 months.
8. Changes and Contact
If we change what is stored, we update this page and the date at the top. YardWyre is based in New Jersey, USA. Questions? Send them through our contact form and we'll get back to you.
